London & Royal Albert Hall Concert       £50
Wednesday 18 March 2015

NOTE – this trip must be booked by 12 January 2015 – as any unused concert tickets must be returned by then.

Enjoy a day in London – combine shopping / sightseeing with a fantastic concert at the Royal Albert Hall in the evening.   Starting from Coventry late morning, we arrive in central London at lunchtime. You have free time to do some sightseeing / shopping / dining, until we get picked up, at around 6.30pm. We then make our way to the fabulous Royal Albert Hall for the concert (see below). The concert lasts from 7.30 – 10pm. Afterwards, we board the coach for our return journey to Coventry.

New York comes to London for a musical-theatre extravaganza from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: the classic hits from the Broadway shows. Experience the razzmatazz of theatre's classics in this star-studded evening set in the glamorous surround of the Royal Albert Hall. Your favourite musicals recreated by London's favourite orchestra, including hit songs fromThe Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Cats, Les Misérables, Chicago, Mamma Mia, Billy Elliot, Wicked and many more! New for 2015: hit numbers from the classic West Side Story, including Somewhere, Tonight and Maria. Presented by vocalists Mary Carewe, Ria Jones, Michael Dore and Graham Bickley, with Music Director Nick Davies.

Although it may seem expensive, we have been able to get some of the best seats in the house, for a truly memorable experience. The seats alone – in the stalls area (see link below, and click on “Take a virtual tour”) - would normally cost you £57. We have got a great groups discount, AND you get a free program thrown in, as well as transport.

Burghley House, Stamford, Lincs         £25
Monday 27 July 2015

Welcome to Burghley, William Cecil’s ancestral home. This palatial Elizabethan prodigy house is still a much loved family home and we invite you to explore its historic collection of paintings, ceramics and works of art, many of which still stand where they were first recorded in 1688.  Visitors are able to enjoy a guided tour of Burghley’s 18 dramatic State Rooms, surrounded by ‘Capability’ Brown parkland, at the centre of this working traditional Estate.

The main visitor gardens at Burghley are the Garden of Surprises and the Sculpture Garden. Enjoy the playful nature of the Garden of Surprises, based on William Cecil’s lost tricks garden at his Hertfordshire home Theobalds, with swivelling Caesar busts, basins of water, jets and the mirrored maze have been designed to be accessible to all regardless of age or interest. The Contemporary Sculpture Garden mixes contemporary sculpture in an historic setting. Bark and mown pathways lead you around the Sculpture Garden where you pass many different species of tree and enjoy a beautiful view of the artificial lake created by ‘Capability’ Brown in the 1770′s.

Our admission ticket includes a guided tour of the House (split into groups of no more than 20), then free time to explore the House and both gardens. Visitor facilities include the Orangery restaurant, the Courtyard gift shop, the Garden Cafe and shop.  We leave Coventry at about 8.30am, in time for our guided tour, schedulled for 10.30am (lasts about 1 hour). We depart late afternoon, and, if time permits, we will visit a local pub/cafe en route.

Devonshire Hotel, Torquay   5days / 4 nights  Half Board    £149
Sunday 11 October 2015

Departing from Bulkington, Coventry & Kenilworth, we head for one of Daish's hotels in Torquay, the Devonshire Hotel.

The Devonshire Hotel, a beautiful 1900s building overlooking the stunning Tor Bay, is surrounded by flower filled gardens and just a 10 - 15 minute stroll to the popular Blue Flag-rated Meadfoot Beach, the attractive waterfront and bustling town centre. This TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2013-awarded hotel also boasts peaceful lounge areas and, for the warmer months, a terrace for afternoon tea. You can enjoy your delicious evening meal in the spacious restaurant - complete with an inviting atmosphere and beautiful views overlooking the gardens. At night, the room is transformed into our entertainment lounge, allowing you to enjoy the live performances without leaving your seat. If the weather's nice, you can try your hand at golf on our fun putting green or simply sit back and relax on our peaceful lawns or sunny patio.

Note – Bernie Cook, our Social Secretary, has been to this hotel previously. One slight disadvantage is thats its about a 15 minute walk (downhill) to Torquay centre (and uphill on return of course!). However, there is an excellent bus service that calls at the Hotel regularly, that will quickly take you into the centre of the resort and accepts bus passes. Any queries please speak to Bernie. Hotels postcode is TQ1 2DY if you want to check it out yourself.

However, at just £149 per person, its still a remarkable offer.   Single Room supplement - £10 for the holiday (not per night)
