West Midlands Police Sports and Wellbeing

Join the WMP Walking Club

The WMP walking club have been walking across all parts of the UK since 2010. As one of the social sections within the West Midlands Police Sports & Wellbeing Association we have members from all backgrounds, departments and abilities. If you are looking to start the journey of getting fit or you just want to meet new people then this group is for you.
Walking is one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier. There are also increased mental well-being benefits as a good walk is recognised to help improve self-perception, self-esteem, mood and sleep quality along with being able to reduce stress, anxiety and fatigue.

Some of our previous walks include: Hadrian’s Wall, 3 Peaks, Welsh 3000, Lake District, Pembrokeshire, Cornwall, The Peak District and Cannock Chase. Some of the more experienced walkers have also done Kilimanjaro, Peru and even Mt, Everest!

Fancy a (cheap) week in the sun? Read on…..

We are looking for up to 20 people to join the volunteer staff team for BEST Fest 2019, Europe’s No1 week-long open water swimming event

Taking place in Colonia St Jordi, Mallorca, BEST Fest comprises 8 swimming events over 7 days. Ideally, you’ll need to be available on-site from Fri 24th May - Sat 1st June, though other dates can be discussed and days either side can be accommodated. Ideally, you’ll have some kayaking experience as this is likely to be a primary function. You can expect to be busy for the period of each event and for an hour or two extra each day to assist with logistics.

You’ll be provided with free airport transfers, hostel-style self-catering accommodation, daily hotel lunch, access to our outdoor 50m pool & gym, staff clothing, BBQ & presentation night tickets and plenty of opportunities for lying on the beach and propping up the bar! A free entry to an event or two may also be possible if you’re a swimmer. Flights are at your own cost and convenience.

Sponsored by HEAD, we attract a wide range of swimmers from across the World including development squads from the GB and Canadian National teams, so you’ll be helping to delivera high quality, professionally delivered and well-regarded event. We’ll also be welcoming double Olympic Silver Medallist (Rio), Jazz Carlin as our special guest!
