Each year, as part of the Festival of Remembrance, a small number of bereaved family members are invited to walk through the Royal Albert Hall in memory of their loved one. This is one of the most poignant and significant moments of the Festival, bringing families together to honour those who have lost their lives in service.
We are keen to ensure that awareness of this opportunity reaches all parts of the bereaved military community.
To help families decide whether this opportunity may be right for them, we ask that:
-
Their loved one's name is recorded on the Roll of Honour.
-
They are aged 16 or over.
-
They have not previously taken part in the Bereaved Families Walk at the Festival of Remembrance.
-
They are able to travel to London and attend on both Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026.
Please note that the Bereaved Families Walk follows a set route through the Royal Albert Hall, which includes descending a staircase. We are happy to discuss any access requirements and provide further information to those considering taking part.
Expressing an interest does not commit anyone to participating, nor does it guarantee a place. Spaces are limited, and we will contact families in September about attendance at the event this year.
Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for those who are selected to participate.
If you, or someone you know, may wish to take part, we would be grateful if you could register your interest using this form - Festival of Remembrance 2026 Bereaved Families Walk – Fill out form
