Welcome

The Coventry branch of NARPO is one of the oldest NARPO branches in existence, having been in existence since 1922, The first meeting of the branch took place in the parade room of the old Police Station on 23rd September 1922 with 11 retired officers present. The membership cost 1 shilling a year.

The membership began to grow as the next meeting was held at The Golden Cross public house. The first outing was due to take place in 1934 with a trip to Alton Towers but this was cancelled due to lack of interest. Coventry NARPO has a growing list of members who age from their 50s to members in their 90s. At present we have over 650 members, which increases year on year and includes retired officers, widows of retired officers and associate members. It has a committee, which is run by retired Police Officers for the benefit of retired officers. It is a non-rank based organisation.

Committee meetings are held five times a year together with an AGM where members are elected to the committee or re-elected as the case may be. Coventry NARPO looks to assist those members who may need help when unwell, or need help with mobility matters. Welfare visits are maintained when we are informed that members are in need of our assistance. Members on the Email distribution list are kept up to date with emerging events such as deaths of members, funerals and other matters. The families of those who have passed away are offered our assistance at these times.  Newsletters are sent to all members four times a year.

We have a Christmas meal and Christmas social gathering and also arrange trips, which we hope our members will make use of and enjoy.
