Policing Charities Launch New Digital Memorial to Honour Fallen Officers

In a significant development for police remembrance across the UK, the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust (UK Police Memorial) and the Police Remembrance Trust have launched a new digital platform dedicated to commemorating police officers and staff who have died in the line of duty.

The new Digital Memorial brings together key elements from the existing websites of both charities, including the original online Police Roll of Honour, into one accessible online space, creating a single point of reference for families, the policing community, and the wider public.

The platform includes:

  • Information concerning the work of both charities
  • The Police Roll of Honour
  • Information and content relating to National Police Memorial Day
  • Details, images, and videos relating to the UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire
  • Personal tributes and stories commemorating the fallen
  • Educational resources and materials for students and schools

The Digital Memorial marks an important step in the growing collaboration between the two organisations and reflects their shared commitment to ensuring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice are remembered in a meaningful and lasting way.

The project has been led by a Digital Working Group, comprising representatives from both charities.  James Slessor, Chair of the Group and Trustee of the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust, said:

“The new Digital Memorial is far more than a website. It provides a single national space where remembrance, education, and the stories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice come together in a meaningful and accessible way.

“By bringing together decades of history, tribute, and service in one place, the platform will help ensure the sacrifices of fallen officers and staff are preserved and remembered for generations to come.

“This project has been a genuine collaboration between both charities, combining expertise and shared commitment to honour those who gave their lives in service to their communities. It demonstrates the strength of partnership in protecting and promoting the legacy of police remembrance across the UK.”

The platform was designed and developed by an external company following a competitive tendering process. Its launch represents the first phase of a wider programme of development. As both charities move into Phase II, the Digital Memorial will continue to be refined and enhanced to support the objectives of both Trusts that further strengthen the UK's national approach to police remembrance.
